Renewable Energy & Storage Rebates
Central Lincoln offers incentives for qualifying solar, wind, hydro, and battery storage systems. Rebates are first-come, first-served and depend on available funds.
How to Apply
- Before you install: Submit an Interconnection & Incentive Application for your project type.
- Wait for approval: We’ll complete a technical review and confirm next steps.
- Install the system (keep it off): Your installer may briefly test equipment, then turn it off.
- Final checks: After your green-tagged electrical inspection and net meter installation, we’ll authorize activation.
- Get your rebate: Submit the Notice of Project Completion with required documents.
Program Requirements
- Contractors must submit an Interconnection and Incentive Application and all required documents listed on the application before starting construction or installation of the generation system (with or without storage).
- The customer must agree to the Net Metered Customers Policy (PDF) and sign a Net Metering Agreement.
- All renewable energy systems interconnected to Central Lincoln’s system must include a utility-accessible safety disconnect that allows Central Lincoln to safely isolate the system when needed. Specific disconnect requirements are outlined in Central Lincoln’s interconnection policies and application materials.
- System Activation Restrictions
- The generating system must remain off until Central Lincoln has received the green-tagged electrical inspection and installed a net meter (installed in person by Central Lincoln).
- Brief testing by the installer is permitted, but the system must be turned off immediately after testing and remain off until approval is received.
- Early activation beyond testing can cause unsafe backfeeding and may result in the suspension of electric service, denial of incentive payments, or both.
- Only one incentive will be issued per system. Additions or expansions of an existing system do not qualify for additional incentives.
- Central Lincoln may suspend service delivery for violations of program rules or Customer Service Policies.
Storage System Requirement
- For every 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of battery storage, the system must include at least 1 kilowatt (kW), measured in direct current (DC), of nameplate generation capacity.
