From Storybooks to Bucket Trucks

On May 28, one of Central Lincoln’s line crews made a special visit to the Toledo Public Library’s story time. Central Lincoln Apprentice Lineman Yair served as guest reader for the day, making it even more meaningful since his daughter is a regular attendee at the weekly event.

The preschool-aged crowd listened intently as Yair read “LineKid’s ABCs” and “Mike the Lineman”—two books that introduce children to the world of linework and teach important lessons about electricity and safety around power lines.

After story time, each child received their very own Central Lincoln “hard hat” before heading outside for a hands-on experience with a real bucket truck. The linemen demonstrated how high the bucket could reach, gave a peek at the tools they use, and even showed how they climb power poles.

The event wrapped up with a fun, lineman-themed craft—a perfect end to a day filled with excitement, learning, and a closer look at the people who help keep the lights on. Parents and kids alike left with smiles and stories to share.
